City Overview
Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam and it is located in the North. Hanoi has a nice old town to stroll, shop or to visit a nice restaurant. Hanoi is famous for its many lakes and clear traces of the old French architecture, because of its French colonial past, the city exude charm and romance. Typical for Hanoi are of the lakes in Hanoi around the city. The center is around the Hoan Kiem Lake, where you will find the main attractions. On an island in the lake you will see the Turtle Pagoda. What you also will see in Hanoi are the motorcycles. You cannot determine how many bikes are riding in this city. A visit to a typical Vietnamese people play in the Water Puppet Theatre in Hanoi during your trip should not be missed. North of Hoan Kiem lake is the oldest part of town, the bustling commercial center of Hanoi.

Approximately hundred kilometers east of Hanoi is Halong Bay, a bay with rocky islets. Halong bay is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site and it offers exquisite scenery. You can explore its craggy limestone islands and grottos by boat. You also have the option to stay one night onboard the cruise if you would like. The ships are comfortable with air conditioning and are built in traditional style. You will sail past the islands of Dinh Huong, Ga Choi, Dog and Sail and visit the Sung Sot cave. The international airport from Hanoi is Noi bai international Airport. The airport is approximately 40 minutes located from the city. You have the option to take a taxi to the city or a bus.
The entertainment district of Hanoi is located around the Old Quarter. Most tourists come together at the intersection of Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen, thus it can be very busy in the evening hours. The side streets also have a lot of bars where the local atmosphere of the city can be explored. The slightly more upscale neighborhood the Bao Khanh district west of Hoan Kiem Lake, is where you can find a lot of expats and tourist. Hanoi has a subtropical climate, typical of northern Vietnam. This means that the summers are hot and humid and winters are relatively cool and dry. Summer begins in April and ends in early October. In the hottest months, July and August, temperatures can easily reach 38.
